Last Sunday on Inside Texas Politics – Democrats said they were considering a quorum break. On Tuesday, they took off to a hotel in Washington. This week the Texas House Democrats are still in D.C., and Austin is at a standstill.
What happens now?
The costs are quickly mounting, so who’s paying the bills? Governor Greg Abbott initially spread misinformation. He called it a taxpayer junket but it’s not. Patrick Svitek from the Texas Tribune tells us more from Austin.
How will this quorum break play out? What will Democrats gain? Won’t Republicans just be tougher during redistricting? Does it really help Texans to go to D.C.?
