In Austin, Texas, an emergency room now averages 10 injuries every day from scooter riders.
The injuries include broken bones, head injuries, and extensive bruising, but they aren’t exclusive to Austin.
Instead, these figures are on the rise where e-scooters are available, like San Francisco and Denver.
Although safety is touted as a top priority of e-scooter companies, their websites and social media accounts suggest double standards for safety.
On Instagram, the account for Limebike has photos of riders wearing helmets, while other riders without helmets are flashing poses for the camera, instead of looking ahead as they travel down the sidewalk.
