The video is from a seminar held on December 13, 2022, which is part of the Japan-US Bone Global Startups comparative joint-research project conducted by the University of Tokyo, Sumitomo Life Inc, and JETRO.

The project, which started in 2021, revealed that the elements necessary for startups to soar worldwide are the following three: “diversity,” “the presence of overseas mentors and investors,” and “serial entrepreneurship”. Therefore, in this seminar, we invited speakers who focused on these three elements to give lectures and participate in discussions.

In the keynote speeches, Tony Raven, founder of Cambridge Enterprise, and Tom Moss, CEO of Skydio APAC, a serial entrepreneur with experience in unicorn companies and many exits, were invited to speak about the necessity of “overseas mentors and investors” and “serial entrepreneurship.”

In the latter half, we invited Akemi Tsugawa, CEO of Bespoke, and Yusuke Asano, CEO of One Act, to discuss how diversity affects the globalization of startups in a panel discussion format.

Later, members of the research from the University of Tokyo, Sumitomo Life Inc, and JETRO discussed the overview of the research and the necessity of the three elements.
