On any given night there are approximately 2000 homeless people in Austin who stay in various shelters and on the streets. While the visible face of homelessness tends to be middle aged pan-handlers in the downtown area, Executive director Ann Howard of Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) explains that the hidden face of homelessness is increasingly women, children and extended families.
