Austin’s Universal Recycling Ordinance has a section for food-permitted businesses to reduce the amount of organic waste materials being sent to local landfills.

The ordinance requires all restaurants, grocery stores, cafeterias, commercial kitchens and even food trucks, (any business with a food-service permit) to create a plan to reduce, reuse or recycle organic waste.
