I head to Austin, TX to visit a couple of friends for the long weekend! For the first day, I check out the Austin 360 Bridge with its overlook of the area including Lake Austin and downtown Austin off in the distance. After that, I go on a hike to Sculpture Falls located in the Barton Creek Greenbelt. After a nice (but hot) hike, I head into downtown Austin where I visit the Texas State Capitol, the largest state capitol in the United States as well as get to check out the cool bungalow-converted restaurants and bars along Rainey St. After getting dinner (covered in a separate Travel Delights video), I go for a walk around downtown Austin including 6th Street and the Willie Nelson statue. To finish off the day, I head over to the Congress Ave bridge to see a very large number of bats (the most I have ever seen).
NOTE: The bats happen to come out earlier than when I saw them (even just before sunset), but the other side of the bridge was completely packed.
If you would like to watch a particular section of the video, you may use these shortcuts:
00:16 – Breakfast at Torchy’s Tacos
01:14 – Austin 360 Bridge
02:55 – Barton Creek Greenbelt Hike
05:16 – Texas State Capitol
10:37 – Rainey St walk
12:36 – Walking around downtown Austin (includes walk down 6th Street)
17:11 – Congress Ave Bridge (19:07 for the bats)
Very special thanks to my friends for having me visit and stay with them in Austin!
