AUSTIN (KXAN) — A business owner was shot and killed in what police are calling a “targeted” attack in a central Austin parking lot Wednesday evening.
Officers were first called for the report of a disturbance in the front parking lot of AAA Fire & Safety at 6700 Guadalupe St., near Airport Boulevard around 7:48 p.m. When officers arrived at the business, they found the store’s owner, Majid Hemmasi, 59, in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
A woman who worked at AAA Fire & Safety as a dispatcher had also been shot but she was able to get away by running inside the building. Hemmasi died at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital where she is expected to survive.
Austin police say it appears the attacker “specifically targeted” Hemmasi.
