The History of Texas in 11 Minutes
Texas has a rich and diverse history that spans thousands of years, starting with the indigenous peoples who inhabited the region for thousands of years before the arrival of European settlers. In the 16th century, Spanish explorers and missionaries arrived in Texas, followed by Mexican settlers in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico, and after a nine-month conflict, became its own republic. The state joined the United States in 1845 and played a pivotal role in the American Civil War. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Texas experienced significant growth and development, becoming a major center of agriculture, oil production, and industry. Today, Texas is the second-largest state in the United States, with a diverse economy and a rich cultural heritage.
