This is an exercise for building focus from your dog. It will be important during engagement. First it is important to understand how marker/clicker training works. I use the clicker as a bridge for me to communicate with Shia. The click indicates a reward/good behavior. I do use this platform for a “place” which is similar to a touch pad. This helps keep her centered during the exercise. The behavior I am looking for is her focus in me and not the treat. If you notice I give her the treat from the opposite hand she the treat will be coming from. By having her make decisions and getting her to think is a big part of learning.
