A lot of people outside of Travis County have been requesting results from our race, so here they are…
TOTALS:
Daugherty: 77,626 (51.78%)
Holmes: 72,295 (48.22%)
Total Votes: 149,921 (100%)
Breaking the results down further, there were 80,865 of those voters (53.94% of the total) who cast a straight party ballot for all Republicans or all Democrats on the ballot. The straight party vote was as follows:
Daugherty: 36,806 (45.52%)
Holmes:44,602 (54.49%)
The remaining 69,053 voters (46.06% of the total) did not cast a straight party ballot and voted in each individual race for the candidate of their choice. The non-straight party vote was as follows:
Daugherty: 40,820 (59.11%)
Holmes: 28,233 (40.89%)
One other noteworthy statistic is that Donald Trump lost this district to Hillary Clinton by 17.98%. Gerald won by 3.56% meaning he out-polled the top of the Republican ticket by 21.54%. That is a staggering statistic, and it would have never happened without all of the people who played a part in this campaign and everyone who voted for common-sense solutions over partisan politics.
