Sixth Street is a historic street and entertainment district in Austin, Texas located within the city’s urban core in downtown Austin. The area around nearby 4th Street and 6th Street has been a major entertainment district since the 1970s.

Austin is considered to be a major center for high tech. Thousands of graduates each year from the engineering and computer science programs at the University of Texas at Austin provide a steady source of employees that help to fuel Austin’s technology and defense industry sectors. Education
Austin is home to the University of Texas at Austin, the flagship institution of the University of Texas System with over 38,000 undergraduate students and 12,000 graduate students.

Sports
Many Austinites support the athletic programs of the University of Texas at Austin known as the Texas Longhorns.

In June 2010 it was announced that the Austin area would host the Formula One, United States Grand Prix, from 2012 until 2021. A Formula One circuit was built at an estimated cost of 0 to 0 million. Circuit of the Americas also plays host to MotoGP World Championships from 2013.

Here’s another cool local commercial find from the Austin, Texas area. This was pulled off an old VHS of recorded television from November or early December in 1997 around the Austin, TX area. This was determined because there were advertisements for Scream 2 showing in theaters mid-December on this tape. Special thanks to the person who kept these tapes and donated them to be archived! Another win for archeology!

Congress Avenue is a major thoroughfare in Austin, Texas. The street is a six-lane, tree lined avenue that cuts through the middle of the city from far south Austin and goes over Lady Bird Lake leading to the Texas State Capitol in the heart of Downtown.
