Madalyn Murray-O’Hair Short Film Part 2
This is a series of parts of a movie that was made in 1970 as a documentary piece about Madalyn. The office and home interviews were both done in Austin, Texas.
I posted this here because there are very few videos on YouTube about Madalyn, and indeed very few documentaries have surfaced. I felt it was important to remind current Atheists, and the next generation of Atheists about who she was, and what she did for our movement.
This film shows her lighter side, her kinder, gentler side. It’s important for Atheists to be aware of that, since she got so much done for us.
It also features an extremely rare appearance on film by Mr. Richard O’Hair. As of 2004, he was the only person buried at Arlington National Cemetery with the Atheist “A” symbol on his grave marker. That too took an incredible Atheist activist effort. Thanks to that effort, the US govt. recognizes our “A” symbol as a symbol of Atheism.
Say what you want about her, Madalyn Murray-O’Hair worked harder and accomplished more good for our movement than any Atheist did at the time, or ever since. A brief look at the list of court cases she filed will really open your eyes: www.atheists.org
